XTERRA Kuantan Off-Road Triathlon 2010

Venue: Teluk Chempedak, Kuantan, Pahang

The only country in South East Asia and second to Japan to host XTERRA races in Asia, this will be XTERRA Malaysia’s second outing as part of the XTERRA Global Tour calendar.
XTERRA Malaysia, Teluk Cempedak, forms part of a 17 leg world-wide race series culminating in the XTERRA World Championships, Maui annually in Oct.

Unlike the usual street pounding races that are normally associated with  triathlons an XTERRA race follows the same 3 disciplines of triathlons swimming, biking and running but with an off road twist to things

You will start with a marked out 1.5k open water swim, a 30-40k off road mountain bike, followed by  10k trail run

A challenging course, it will see triathletes starting off from the scenic Teluk Cempedak beach, swimming in the clear waters of the South China Sea, mountain biking in the areas surrounding Kuantan, through a wide mix of technical singletrack, broken tarmac, wide open plantation trails, scenic village locales, sections of calve and thigh numbing beaches,  hugging the beautiful coast line, all of this navigates  you back to the transition area, to begin the trail run Which takes you twice around a 5k loop surrounding the Teluk Cempedak area, finishing on a final and dramatic finish line under the swaying casuarinas trees dordering the Teluk Cempedak recreational area and the beach

As with the previous year , XTERRA Malaysia has been assigned slots for the XTERRA World Championship in Maui, Hawaii for eligible athletes.
